Overview

TechMan is a SaaS platform for automotive garages. It covers everything front of house like booking customers in, managing jobs, tracking parts and labour, handling invoices, and giving staff a view of mechanic availability. Basically, everything that keeps a garage running day to day.

The problem

The existing platform worked, but it wasn't pleasant to use. There was no real visual hierarchy, so screens felt busy and hard to scan. It wasn't always clear when something had saved, which in a fast-paced environment is a real problem. The issues were both visual and in terms of basic UX fundamentals.

The process

I started with a full audit of the product, going screen by screen to identify where things were breaking down. A lot of it came down to consistency, like actions didn't always behave the same way, feedback states were missing or unclear, and there was no real visual logic tying everything together. From there I worked through wireframes to sort out the structure before touching the UI. The main focus was hierarchy and clarity, making sure the right information was easy to find and that the interface actually told you what was happening at each step.

Outcome

The redesigned product is cleaner, more consistent, and a lot easier to navigate. Staff can move through bookings, jobs, and invoices without having to second-guess the interface. It feels like a tool that's actually on your side rather than one you're fighting against.
